I decided to post about a lovely little site that has just opened. Please visit Claire Foy Source, your online source for the Little Dorrit star! The site is run by Mia and Anna. I personally have not seen all of Little Dorrit yet, but the miniseries has done well and is available now on DVD! Claire will star next in Season of the Witch with Nicholas Cage. Also, I will be away on holiday for the next two weeks!
ComingSoon.net posted more pictures from the set of Robin Hood in Wales. Click on the link to view the entire gallery of recent photos! I wonder how this movie is going to differ from the Robin Hood with Kevin Costner or even the BBC series! I am loving the Medieval costumes.
I decided to re-start featuring actors here at Long Ago Captures who frequently star in historical movies. My first feature is Rachel Hurd-Wood, who is most famous for her roles in Peter Pan and Perfume: Story of a Murderer. I wrote a brief profile of her roles for the site right here. If you have any suggestions for future featured actors, don’t be shy to let me know by either e-mailing me or commenting.
I remember seeing this book in bookstores and have heard about how good it is. Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follatt, is being made into a miniseries. Thank you to Eddie Redmayne Online for the article.
Based on the Ken Follett novel, “Pillars of the Earth” takes place during the 12th century in England. The story deals with war, power struggles and two interwoven love stories. Eddie will be playing Jack. The rest of the cast includes Ian McShane as Waleran, Donald Sutherland as Bartholomew, Rufus Sewell as Tom Builder, Matthew Macfadyen as Prior Philip, Sarah Parish as Regan Hamleigh, Hayley Atwell as Aliena and Gordon Pinsent as the Archbishop.
The series begins production on June 22 in Hungary and Austria, slated to air during the second half of 2010.
Arte.tv has a video of interviews with Bright Star actor Ben Wishaw, who plays the poet John Keats, and the film’s director, Jane Campion. They both have such thoughtful, interesting things to say about the film and about Keats and his poems. As well, there are a few clips from the film. When Jane Campion and Ben Wishaw are being interviewed, you can see the beautiful poster of the movie behind them.
The first batch of production stills from Dorian Gray, to be released in September in the UK, have been released at this website. Only Ben Barnes (and one of Colin Firth) is being featured so far, so I hope more are released soon. This might be a sign that the release of the trailer is near! I am also seeing if I can upload a picture to the post.
There are new pictures from the set of Black Death on this German website. There are many pictures of extras, the set, and the actors, including Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, and Kimberly Nixon. I am so excited for this movie and have been waiting for a film on the Black Death for a long time. ScreenRant calls it an original movie idea:
With all of the remakes, reboots and absurd movie ideas spewing forth from Hollywood lately, it’s nice to see there are still some people having original thoughts. Here’s an idea for a story coming out of the UK and Germany: a mystery/thriller about the plague during medieval times. From Egoli Tossell Film comes the movie Black Death and it stars none other Sean “Boromir” Bean.
I forgot to post about the new Sherlock Holmes trailer. I must say I was really surprised at how differently Sherlock Holmes, played by Robert Downey Jr., is being portrayed. From what I remember of the character, anyway. You can watch the official HD trailer on Youtube here. Feel free to comment about what you think of it.
