Although her name was listed before, it is now confirmed that British actress Vanessa Redgrave will play Eleanor of Aquitaine in the upcoming Robin Hood movie. As many of you probably know, Vanessa recently lost her daughter, actress Natasha Richardson. I wish only the best for her and her family and I am glad that she had agreed to take on the role of one of my favorite queens in English history.
Bereaved Vanessa Redgrave is concentrating on work following the tragic loss of her daughter Natasha Richardson – she has signed to star in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood movie.
The acting great is set to play Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, mother of the folklore hero’s nemesis King John, played by Oscar Isaacs.
Redgrave will join Russell Crowe as Robin Hood and Cate Blanchett, who was drafted as Maid Marion after Sienna Miller dropped out.
23 March, 2009 » Robin Hood Armed With Black Friar Tuck
The BBC show, Robin Hood, is set to return in a few months. The show’s casting David Harewood as the legend’s first black Friar Tuck is currently making the rounds. After taking away my two favorite characters in season 2, I hope this new Tuck redeems the show!
Robin Hood’s Sheriff of Nottingham may not know what’s about to hit him. But actor David Harewood says it’s time to reshape English folk law, by appearing as the first ever black Friar Tuck.
He says he will reincarnate Sherwood Forrest’s bumbling monk into a hunky, fighting robed warrior who helps Robin Hood rob from the rich and feed the poor.
‘I laughed my head off. I said ‘You must be joking!” says Harewood, after his agent put the casting to him.
But actor David Harewood says it’s time to reshape English folk law, by appearing as the first ever black Friar Tuck.
There is a new and better trailer out for The Tudors season 3. It covers the entire season, from the rebels’ uprising, the birth of Henry VIII’s son, Anne of Cleves, Cromwell’s downfall, and Katherine Howard.
It’s been forever since we’ve heard anything about Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1980s film. We know the film already stars Sam Worthington as Perseus, but Gemma Arterton Online reports that British actress Gemma Arterton might be in the movie as well. As well, this site cites British actor Nicholas Hoult as being part of the film, saying he will return from filming “a remake of Clash of the Titans” in the summer.
According to an IMDb.com user, Gemma Arterton will start filming Clash of The Titans in a few weeks in Tenerife. She will play a Demi-Goddess not seen in the original outing. Michael Sheen may also be in the production schedule permitting. We have no idea if it’s true or just a rumour. Only time will tell…
This is exciting news for fans (like me) of the HBO show, Rome. One of the main actors of the show, Ray Stevenson, was interviewed recently and gave away more information about the show being turned into a feature film.
Ray Stevenson talks about bringing his popular HBO series to the big screen.
While talking with actor Ray Stevenson about the upcoming Punisher: War Zone DVD release, we got him to talk more about the impending Rome movie, which is based on the popular HBO series of the same name. The film is definitely happening, and is in the process of being written at this very moment. Here is what Ray had to say about it:
The last restore of missing screen captures: I uploaded Xena: Warrior Princess season 6, episode 4 screen captures (“Who’s Gurkhan?”). Again, I won’t be adding a lot of Xena captures, but this particular episode had many pretty costumes.
I posted this article before, but it got deleted. New Zealand actor, Manu Bennett, will play the lead in the upcoming TV series, Spartacus.
Expat Kiwi actor Manu Bennett, (Xena, Street Legal, Shortland Street, Mataku), whose last film was 30 Days of Night with Josh Hartnett, has scored the supporting lead role in the new 13-episode series Spartacus being made in New Zealand for US television.
He plays an offsider of rebel slave leader, Spartacus, which is a big role, and the series will have all the drama of a classic swords-and-sandals piece including battles in the Colosseum.
Manu arrived back in the country this week to go into military-style training to learn how to spar like a gladiator. Filming starts at the end of the month.
