Site - FAQ
Here are some questions that sometimes get e-mailed to me.

You must have no life. How long does it take to screencap a movie?

It used to take me forever as I was manually screencapping each movie (pressing ‘P’ per frame I wanted and then saving it). Now I have automatic capping program that caps movies for me. It usually takes an hour or so to sort through my caps and convert them to the proper file format.

Do you accept cap donations?

Of course! While I appreciate them very much, I have decided to place “requirements” on donations. If you want to donate caps from a movie, make sure they are DVD quality. While downloaded movies are fine for the occasional avatar, the caps usually come out with off resolutions and are pixilated. Also, any number of caps between 500 and 1000 is fine. Lastly, if you want to send caps in installments, only do so if you intend on capping the entire movie. Incomplete galleries bug me after too long! Thanks!

What programs do you use for capping?

I have no idea if there is an easier way. There probably is, but I’m almost perfectly content with my method now. I used to use WinDVD (Intervideo) where one had to press “P” in order to get a cap. While this program is nice for celebrity sites, capping whole movies this way started to become onerous—it took way too long and I didn’t want to start disliking certain movies! So, I now use an automatic screencapper called VirtualDub. I can set frames for second and name them how I want. Since this program only saves my pictures from DVD’s as .bmp’s, I have an image converter to convert them to .jpg files after I’ve finished sorting through the caps and deleting all the “bad” ones.

Can I use your caps?

Sure! Please refer to the “Rules” first. I’m not too picky. I won’t make the effort to scold you if you take my caps and don’t credit (how will I ever know, anyway?). Use them for what you like: celebrity fansites, costume sites, avatars and icons, fan art. However, a “thank you” or a credit is always encouraging. If I feel appreciated, I will be more likely to cap more movies!

Will you cap [insert movie title here]?

Maybe. If I love the movie, then most likely. If I own it and haven’t capped it yet, even more likely. I will add your request to my “Requests” page (just comment or e-mail or something). This is so I have an idea of what people are looking for. Maybe someone else will cap it for you? Maybe I’ll find it somewhere else on the internet and forward a link to you. Maybe I’ll see it in a video store and decide to rent and cap it. Just remember that movies cost money and I already spend too much on them!

Why are there caps of naked people/love scenes?

I have had some people bring this up as an issue. In many historical films, there are naked people and love scenes. My policy is this: I will cap every scene in a movie, but if a frame shows any certain exposed body parts, then that particular capture will not be included.

Will you screencap TV shows?

Historical tv shows, of course. As much as I adore shows like "Robin Hood" or "Little House on the Prairie", buying DVD seasons of shows is quite expensive, and I don't rent them. I might think about capping ones that I have the partial series for: "Xena" and "Rome". Someday I might get more. And if I ever cap shows, I probably won't cap every episode in a ten-season run, or shows I never watched and loved in the first place.
