Romola Garai is our first featured actor. At just 24, she has starred in quite a number of historical roles, the first being Daniel Deronda in 2002.
Born on July 1, 1982, in England, Romola grew up in Singapore and Hong Kong. Her family moved back to England when she was eight. At sixteen, she left home to live with her older sister Rosie in London,
where she attended a school for girls and majored in theatre. (Romola in Amazing Grace, 2007)
Her first ever film role was the younger version of Judi Dench in the television movie, The Last of the Blonde Bombshells (2000). Since then, she has starred in number of films, historical and non-historical alike,
including I Capture the Castle (2003) with Rose Byrne, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), and one of my favorites, the Australian-made television drama, The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant (2005),
in which she played the title role. You will be seeing a lot more of Romola in 2007, with (period) films like Amazing Grace, also starring Ioan Gruffudd, Angel, in which she has the title role, and Atonment, with Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. (Romola in Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant, 2005)
