For now, an index of historical movies arranged by era and alphabetically. More specific lists (i.e. Biblical movies) will come eventually. Animated films are not included; mini-series and television movies are.

Ancient
Taking place from the Bronze Age (beginning around 3500 B.C.) to the fall of the Roman Empire (around 400 A.D.), which are mostly movies about Ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Biblical stories also fall into this category.

Medieval
From the end of the Roman Empire, through the Dark Ages (around 476-1000), the High Middle Ages (1000-1300), and Late Middle Ages (1300-1500). Movies include those based on Arthurian legends, as well as ones about the Crusades.

Tudor and Elizabethan England
Taking place during the Tudor dynasty in England, from the Wars of the Roses (1455-1485) to the end of Elizabeth I's reign (1603). This also includes movies about Shakespeare. Since this time period also spans the Renaissance, movies in this category are limited to those that take place in England.
